With more than two decades of experience in the health and fitness industry, Dave has a rare level of industry knowledge and expertise.

Drawing on his experience with elite sporting organisations such as the Victorian Institute of Sport, Triathlon Victoria and the Australian Olympic Sailing team, Dave created One Fitness back in 1996, with the vision of setting a new benchmark in the industry.

He has since gone a long way towards achieving this goal – building the perfect team, the ideal facility and the right services to ensure every client has the best possible opportunity to achieve their goals.
Driven by this philosophy of finding solutions to solve the frustrations of our members Dave became a partner of the healthy meal company Superfood Meal Company. Superfood Meal Co. now provides 100’s a meals a week to busy One Fitness members.

Dave is proud of the fact that the business he created 20 years ago is now recognised as one of Australia’s most progressive health and fitness companies.

Gareth developed his passion for motivating others at a young age on the rugby pitch. From here he knew a career in health and fitness was for him. Having played a few different sports he understood the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle to optimize performance. While studying a degree in Sports and Exercise Management, he also obtained his cert IV in personal training. In 2012, after a few years of working in Ireland, Gareth decided to move to Melbourne to further his career. He joined One Fitness at the start of 2013 and has since progressed to the role of manager where he oversees the running of the gym while taking PT and group sessions.

Gareth has experience with a wide range of clients and specializes in strength training and boxing. He has a strong focus on keeping training relevant to a client’s lifestyle and needs, knowing there’s no ‘one size fits all’ when it comes to programming. Other areas of interest for Gareth are pre/post-natal training and training the elderly.

From an early age, Jack set himself the goal of becoming a career personal trainer.

So, after completing school, he immersed himself in the study of health and fitness, and set out to gain experience in his chosen field.

After knocking on the doors of local gyms, he scored a job as a gym assistant, and within a couple of years he was a qualified trainer, working in children’s fitness.

He soon moved into adult fitness training, and has since continued his education to include metabolic nutrition, and gained more than six years’ experience as a dedicated, knowledgeable and popular One Fitness trainer.

Jack exemplifies the value of setting goals, and now has a solid reputation for helping his clients achieve theirs.

Personal Trainer – Group Exercise Trainer

Brad Higgins began working at One Fitness in 2012. He is the Master Coach at the Australian Institute of Fitness in Melbourne and has been lecturing at the Australian Institute of fitness for over four years. Brad also presents training courses around Australia to both new and experienced personal trainers. He is extremely passionate about health and fitness and has been a Personal Trainer since 2010. Brad has worked with various clients with a range of abilities and age, and provides a very high success rate in helping them achieve their desired goals.

Brad has a Bachelor degree in Sport & Exercise Science and Masters degree in Exercise Science (Strength and Conditioning). Brad’s passion for exercise keeps him focused on his goals and believes that the discipline needed to exercise can be transferred to all other aspects of life. Brad’s aim is to help people understand that through exercise, we can achieve maximum potential by creating natural movement in everyday life.

Ben joined the fitness industry in 2012, in order to pursue a career he was truly passionate about.
After completing his Certificate III & IV in Fitness, he continued to further his knowledge in the areas of Exercise Science and Biomechanics.
Ben has worked with a variety of different clients, and is experienced in the areas of rehabilitation and Performance training. He currently studies and works with Victoria University.
Ben’s training focuses on movement mechanics and technique. He believes this is the key to better physical performance, ultimately leading to a healthier lifestyle.
Ben uses scientific principles in order to enhance the sporting performance of young kids, as well as amateur and professional athletes.
He currently owns his own Academy (Gerons Performance Academy) where juniors from the ages of 8-18, can come in and learn fundamental principles in order to build a better athletic foundation.

Ben’s Experience includes:
– Successful development of systems for rehabilitating ACL (knee) and scoliosis/ spinal injuries
– Dealing with back pain and other muscular imbalances
– Shoulder injuries (muscular)
* some experience working with frozen shoulders
– Managing Plantar fasciitis
– Testing and working with top Australian athletes

Originally from New Zealand Jess had two passions – dance and cookery. After studying French cuisine Jess followed a career as a head chef in New Zealand and Australia. Although fulfilling Jess found herself living an unhealthy lifestyle and subsequently made a series of major lifestyle changes that resulted in personal transformation and a change of career into health and fitness.

Following significant study and practical work, Jess started her fitness career with outdoor fitness bootcamps which she still runs twice a week and joined the team at One Fitness in July 2014. Drawing on her own experiences, Jess’s approach helps clients feel comfortable in the gym, working closely with them to design varied programs to keep interest levels high and deliver results.

Jess is currently a Level 2 Registered Exercise Professional, also having a Certificate Four in Fitness, Level One Boxing, Nutrition and Weight Management and Partner Training Techniques

Jess actively takes part in Melbourne’s abundance of fun runs, pilates and is often found walking her two dogs or weight training in the gym.

Watching client’s confidence grow is the most rewarding part of being a personal trainer and she truly believes exercise is equally important for both the mind and body’s health.

Nicky Williams

Nicky Williams, the latest addition to One Fitness Brighton brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to the team. Personal Trainer and Group Exercise Coach, Nicky received her PT qualifications in Auckland, New Zealand – her home, back in 2012. Since then she has also achieved a Crossfit Level 1 trainer qualification and a Certificate in Myofascial Release.

Nicky has always been very active playing netball throughout school, participating in half marathons and competing in Crossfit, plus a touch of yoga. Coming from a Crossfit background, Nicky specialises and is passionate about Power Lifting and Olympic Lifting. She loves to push herself out of her comfort zone and recently competed in a Novice Power Lifting Competition. Nicky is extremely passionate about the impact weight lifting and exercising in general can have on ones self, physically and mentally.

Nicky recognises how important good health and fitness is to her clients and ensures they get 100% out of every session with her, with her undivided attention and careful programming she pushes her clients to reach their fitness goals, while enjoying the process along the way. She loves to see the confidence build in her clients as they get fitter, stronger and healthier.

Steph joined the team at One Fitness in late 2015, injecting the club with her infectious passion for healthy living and a wealth of knowledge to boot. As a personal trainer (and yoga teacher in the making) Steph leads by example and applies the values of balance, kindness and compassion to all things in life.

Steph has been on quite a journey as a result of her unwavering commitment to realising her full potential. When health became a more prominent theme in her early 20’s, she became adept in long distance running and eventually body building. Experimenting with many different diets along the way, she learned what did and did not work for her.

After much trial and error, Steph has finally found what makes her tick. These days a dedicated yoga practice and a plant based diet keep her feeling fit, trim and terrific!

Steph’s approach to health can be surmised by the following quotes “extremes are easy, balance is hard’ and ‘”eat food, not too much, mostly plants.” Don’t be afraid to say hi to Steph and ask her about her story and interests, she’d love to meet you!

Rilla has basically grown up in health and fitness industry, starting when she was just 15 years old. Now after 7 years in the industry and still in her early 20’s, Rilla has recently swapped her Mathematics degree to Health Science (Sports and Exercise Science) at Victoria University.

It’s is this technical knowledge coupled with her industry experience that makes Rilla the quintessential One Fitness team member.

Tony is a musculoskeletal therapist with more than 20 years’ experience in the health and fitness industry.

He puts his vast knowledge to use as both a clinician and educator of therapists and personal trainers.

Tony has worked with AFL and NRL (including State of Origin) teams, and elite state, national and international athletes across a wide range of sporting disciplines, including swimming, hockey, track and field, golf and triathlon.

Combining his sound clinical understanding, with patient education and a partnership approach, Tony has two key areas of focus. The first is to restore normal function to the body. The second is to help his clients develop a strong and stable body environment that enables them to progress their training and achieve improved, sustainable performance.
